Remembering Shirl

MBC is sponsoring a ride, July 24, 2021, to honor our former devoted member Shirley Elin Braxton, who supported MBC for decades via the Braxton Bike Shop and membership in the Club. A well-loved member of our bicycling community, Shirley completed many TOSRV-West rides, countless club rides, rode across the Trans-America Bicycle Trail, and rode her birthday bike rides into her early 80s.

Please add your comments and remembrances of Shirl Braxton. If you have photos of Shirl that you would like to share, please include that in your comments and you will be contacted to submit your photo.

Bought my first touring bike in 1983 from Braxton Bike Shop. Shirl was awesome. At the time I was 24 and it was the most expensive thing I owned until I broke down and learned how to drive at 27! Still have the bike.

There will always be a special place in my heart for the whole Braxton family. Miss Shirl was the glue that held things together and the smile that said friend to strangers.

Hello, I only met Shirl once and it was a wonderful experience; she was so happy and pleasant, a true joy to meet and be around.

My only interaction with Shirl was at the bike shop when I purchased a Bianci which she willingly, with much consultation, customized to meet my desires to make it more comfortable for me to use primarily for commuting.
