Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes 6/1-2/2019

Post event report:

3 riders arrived in Mullan, ID at the Mullan trailhead for the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes at approximately 9:30 am on Saturday 6/1. After unloading from our vehicle and getting our traveling gear loaded on our bikes we departed Mullan at approximately 10 am. The 4th rider met us on the trail between Mullan and Wallace since he had stayed overnight in Wallace.

Starting in comfortable sunny weather we all proceeded on the trail with a short stop in Kellogg at the Excelsior Cycle & Sport Shop. After leaving Kellogg the trail soon departs its close proximity to I-90. From there to Harrison the trail is predominately in wooded areas along the Coeur d'Alene river. We lunched in Cataldo where rider #4 began his return trip to Wallace and back to Missoula.

The remaining 3 riders continued in pleasant weather until mid afternoon when we were very well drenched by an unexpected rain just west of the Rose Lake area. We continued after the rain subsided and were essentially dried out by the time we reached Harrison and our accommodations at the Osprey B&B. We spent a quiet evening in Harrison after dinner at One Shot Charlies.

We were greeted the next morning by our hostess and a delicious breakfast before beginning our trip back to Mullan and eventually Missoula. The return trip is initially fairly flat along the river but begins a gradual climb in the Pinehurst area west of Kellogg and continues to steepen until finally reaching Mullan.

The following video was taken in the chain of lakes area about 10 miles east of Harrison.
