Post event report:

7 riders arrived at the initial starting location where there was a blockage of the frontage road. 1 rider did begin at this location. 6 riders drove on to Drummond where 1 rider decided that he was not well prepared for the strong and cold headwind. The remaining 5 rode up to the divide where 1 rider had previously decided that he would turn around. The remaining 4 of us continued on to Helmville through snow and then rain and a strong headwind. Fortunately, the snow melted when it hit the road. We were all relieved to get to the Copper Queen. By the time we finished lunch, it had cleared up to partly cloudy, and so the ride back to Drummond was nice.

Pre-ride information:

Sun. May 5, 2019.   Bearmouth to Helmville and Return.  (65 mile round trip).  Meet at Eastgate shopping center at 9:00 am to car pool, or at 9:50 am north of I90 at the Bearmouth exit. We will drive east on the frontage road towards Drummond to reduce the total miles to 65 or less. Ride the I90 frontage road from Bearmouth to Drummond, then follow Highway 271 to Helmville.  No host lunch at the Copper Queen Saloon, and return.  There is a sometimes steep 1500' climb from Drummond to the pass, and a moderate 1000' climb on the way back.  Pace: moderate. Alden Wright.
