Post event report:
Five riders, including one guest rider, joined Aileen Thompson for the 2022 inaugural weekday ride. The weather initially felt cool but the steady pace provided a good warmup and some folks shed layers in Lolo. We continued on to Florence where we all enjoyed BYO-snacks and conversation before the return to Missoula. The wind was barely a factor, providing a slight push as we headed south and minimal resistance on the return. Several participants stated that they’d kept a pace faster than they maintain on solitary rides but were happy to have done so. Rider averages ranged between approximately 14.0 and 15.4 mph over the 35-mile route, with regroups as necessary.
Thanks to Bob Wachtel for assisting with ride leader duties.
Pre-ride information:
Wednesday, June 1, at 1:30 PM, the Midweek Ride to Florence (approximately 35 mi.), will be the first of a potential series of weekday rides for intermediate-level riders. Today’s ride will take us out to Florence on the Bitterroot Trail and Old US 93, returning on the Bitterroot Trail. We’ll maintain a steady pace but we’ll stop for regroups, if necessary. Please RSVP if you’re considering joining the ride so that you can be informed of any late-breaking changes (e.g., weather-related cancellation).
