Pre-ride information:

Given the current long range weather forecast for West Glacier MT. for, Saturday, 5/26, with a high of 61 and 24% likelihood of precipitation, with winds SSW at 8 MPH, this should be a good riding day. Please be aware that travel to and from the official ride starting location is not covered by our General Liability Insurance. The ride itself is covered as are all official MBC rides for members and 1st time guests.

Sunday May 26th the Missoula Bicycle Club will lead a ride from West Glacier to the top of Logan Pass and back. We will meet at 0500 at the parking area in West Glacier and proceed to the Shuttle in the main parking area across the river. Look for the MBC Banner on a Silver Toyota Rav4.

We Have two options for entrance:

For the first it is necessary to start early if you are unable to obtain a Day Pass, going past the Gate at 0530 will be possible without the Day Pass.
There will be more Day Passes available on May 25th at 7pm on Recreation.GOV for Glacier National Park. If you obtain a pass let me know ASAP.
It is unknown how many passes there will be but only one is available for each vehicle so you will not be able to purchase one for your friends and family.

The ride is 42.4 miles long with 3000+ ft of climbing. You must bring your own water and food to last for the entire 3 1/2 to 4 hour ride. Bear Spray is also mandatory. It is suggested that you bring a small pack for food, a full hydration bladder, extra clothes (it is forecasted for rain and wind), and Bear Spray. Options for camping are outside of GNP along with motels in Columbia Falls, Kalispell, and at entrance to West Glacier. Other forms of camping are as discovered so watch for updates.

Also, if you would be interested in leading or co-leading any of the future MBC-UMRA Tuesday rides, you can submit your interest on our "Propose a Ride" page.

Any cancellation/postponement of this ride will be posted here and a cancellation email will be sent out not later than 4:00 PM on Friday 5/24/2024, to all who have RSVP'd. Always dress appropriately for your comfort. Remember that higher altitudes are colder, plan on layering.

Please RSVP if you’re considering joining the ride so that you will be provided the leader's contact information and can be informed of any late-breaking changes (e.g., weather or smoke related cancellation).

After you RSVP you will be redirected to a short survey regarding potential car pooling to Glacier NP. Your responses to this survey will aid us in matching up potential riders with drivers.
