MBC-UMRA Ride 3/26/2024 Fort Loop - Report

Post event report:

While this ride started with some possible precipitation, 2 riders took the chance and enjoyed a 9.33 mile ride without getting wet or snowed upon. We even had several breaks in the cloud cover to allow us to feel the heat of the sun. Overall a pleasant afternoon ride for 2 riding companions.

Total distance 9.33 miles, Riding Time 55 minutes, Elevation gain 94 feet, Average speed: 10.2 mph

Pre-ride information:

Welcome to the first 2024 MBC-UMRA Ride

Given the current long range weather forecast for, Tuesday, 3/26, with a high of 45 and 38% likelihood of precipitation, this should be a good day to begin our 2024 riding season for this Tuesday MBC riding group. This will be an afternoon ride beginning at 1:30 PM in Silver Park. We will plan to ride our regular clockwise loop to Fort Missoula and return via Clements Rd. and the Milwaukee Trail. This route is primarily on paved multi-use trails with minimal street riding and one short single track that can be avoided by any riders who prefer to not ride the dirt single track. We may add the side trip out to Kelly Island as indicated on the map below. If the map does not appear please click here.

Any cancellation/postponement will be posted here and a cancellation email will be sent out not later than 11:00 AM on Tuesday 3/26, to all who have RSVP'd. Given the moderate chance of precipitation, please prepare for potential rain.

While this ride is targeted towards UM Retirees, it is open to all MBC members. Please remember that this will be a slow to moderate pace with the potential of only one moderate hill, the Reserve St. over bridge, to climb and descend. Please RSVP if you’re considering joining the ride so that you will be provided the leader's contact information and can be informed of any late-breaking changes (e.g., weather or smoke related cancellation).
